Who We Are

TRI Mountaineering is a faith-based wilderness outdoor adventure backpacking company that focuses on guiding youth and adults on outdoor excursions, teaching the fundamentals of backpacking.  Its mission and vision encompasses building confidence, improving skills, leadership, team building, and appreciation and respect for the outdoors and developing a deeper relationship with God.

The philosophy of TRI Mountaineering is to “Give it a TRI with 3Ts: T-ime, T-eamwork and T-ransformation.”  The mission behind TRI Mountaineering is to have individuals step out of their comfort zone, to challenge themselves, develop outdoor skills and explore the wonders of the outdoors.

These 3Ts objectives are the keys to experiencing a great adventure in the outdoors.  First is Time.  The goal is to take TIME away.  To reflect, refresh and to regenerate.  To detach from the things that consume our lives and break away from the daily routines of life. To be still, take a breath in and gaze into the incredible creation that surrounds us.

The 2nd goal is TEAMWORK.  Working together as a team is important to a successful adventure.  It is important to support and encourage one another.  No one is left behind.  Each person has strengths that contribute to the Team.  We all work as one.

The 3rd goal is TRANSFORMATION.  The hope is that each person leaving this amazing journey is better as a person (mentally, physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually) than when they took their first step on the trail.  It should be life changing.

Meet the Team

Jason George Tri Mountaineering CEO
  • Founder / CEO

I am currently a full-time Cardiac Nurse for over 20 years, but also the CEO and guide for TRI Mountaineering.  God has given me an absolute love and passion for the outdoors and being in His creation while providing for others the opportunity to embrace it as well.  There is something especially unique and amazing about winter backpacking.  I have been guiding individuals and groups, including a wide range of individuals from children to adults, for the past 29 years.

I have taken my 2 wonderful sons, MD and Andrew, since they were 5 years old, Summer and Winter backpacking. My lovely wife, Melody, has supported me through all these years and could not have done them without her by my side, even though she does not come on these adventures, but works behind the scenes.

I also lead weekly day hikes on the weekends for a local healthcare company just for fun and to get the staff connected through nature.

I enjoy other activities. I have been rock climbing since the 1990’s, have been a climbing instructor and have climbed Half Dome in Yosemite.  In my wedding, I even rappelled from the ceiling of the church with Mission Impossible music in a cowboy tux.

I like mountain biking, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, disc golf, skateboarding, snorkeling and baseball.

I am a former triathlete and trained at an ½ Ironman level, then coached my children and others.  I am still involved with triathlons and even ½ marathons as the volunteer director of the medical tents. I love being involved in the community.

Please join me on one of these incredible and life-changing adventures.
